It was a wild and emotional Tuesday, with five Sounders players participating in FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. In all, all five Sounders saw action, with Nicolás Lodeiro (Uruguay) and Román Torres (Panama) securing berths to Russia next summer and Gustav Svensson (Sweden) earning a playoff berth to stay alive, while Clint Dempsey and the U.S. were left stunned and came up just short on qualifying for the first time since 1986. Joevin Jones' Trinidad and Tobago squad had already been eliminated.
