Fredy Montero hasn't played for the Sounders since 2012, but he's always had a soft spot for Seattle. Last September, he even wrote a heartfelt piece for The Players' Tribune on his emotional return to the Sounders as a member of the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Now a member of Sporting CP in Portugal, Montero has continued to show his relationship with the city. Last week, he posted a photo on Instagram that shows he and his wife, Alexis, have partnered with two friends to bring a coffee shop to the Roosevelt neighborhood of Seattle: Santo Coffee Co.
Montero, 30, remains the club's all-time leader in goals (47) and shots (411). He joined the Sounders as a 21-year-old forward from Colombia, and has the distinction of recordig the team's first goal in the MLS era. After four seasons in Seattle, Montero played for Millonarios (Colombia) and Sporting CP before his stint with Vancouver in 2017. He returned to Sporting CP in January.
According to this Facebook page, Santo Coffee Co. will be located at 1319 NE 65th Street in Seattle.
