Ecuador national team Head Coach Hernán DarÃo Gómez has called in Seattle Sounders defender Xavier Arreaga has part of his 23-man roster for 2019 Copa América in Brazil.
Arreaga made his international debut for La Tricolor in a friendly against Panama on Nov. 20, 2018, his only cap thus far. The 24-year-old signed with the Sounders on May 7 and made his MLS debut last weekend at Sporting Kansas City when he entered as a substitute in the 38th minute.
Ecuador is in Group C with Uruguay, Chile and Japan, which was invited along with Qatar to round out the 12-team tournament. The top two teams from each group advance to the Knockout Round, with the two highest-finishing third place teams filling out the quarterfinals.
