Sounders,
There have been many great coaches for this club, and it is my privilege to be here working for you as its steward. My time will come to an end at some stage, but when I leave it will be with a lifetime of memories. As I write this, our club is on the cusp of a generational opportunity. There is much for our community to look forward to and embrace in both the near and long-term, and I am grateful for the chance to serve the club in these exciting times.
On Monday, our players begin their postseason campaign. You have always risen to the occasion with your voices and true emotions in supporting the boys during the postseason. Lumen Field is loudest in the fall, and I cannot wait to undertake another playoff journey with you. These are special experiences, and they create moments we can all share together.
We are preparing to take an unprecedented journey together in 2025 when we host the FIFA Club World Cup. Never before has an American team qualified for and hosted matches at the biggest club football competition in the world. I am so very excited to share this generational experience as a coach and fan. The opportunity to compete against some of the biggest names in global soccer is an experience few will want to miss. Then in 2026 the FIFA World Cup is coming to our home stadium, providing another huge opportunity for soccer fans to come together in celebrating our great city. There has never been a better time to be a fan of soccer in Seattle than right now.
I would not be in this position without my coaching staff, both past and present. They are instrumental in establishing and maintaining the culture of winning we come to expect from the Seattle Sounders. I also want to thank all the coaches, players and mentors who I’ve worked with throughout my professional career. There are many and you have shaped who I am today. These experiences helped prepare me to lead this club since 2016.
Thanks must be given to the club’s ownership and front office. For years Adrian, Craig and Sounders FC leadership have given both expertise and support to ensure this organization remains the model of our sport in North America. I am also very grateful to all the people who work to create our matchday experience, which helps the players perform to their best ability. There are countless people behind the scenes – the medical, performance and support staff, alongside our dedicated fans – working to ensure this club reaches its highest potential.
I’m honored to continue coaching the club that has given me so much. As long as I am in this role, I strive to continue the success of this proud organization, motivated by the belief that the Sounders are the connection between the players and the fans.
