The Seattle Sounders are no strangers to controversial calls this season, and they found themselves on the wrong end of an early referee’s decision that changed the tone of the team’s 2-0 loss on the road against FC Dallas.
Less than 10 minutes into the match, referee Ricardo Salazar pointed to the spot after Chad Marshall fouled defender Walker Zimmerman at the top of the six-yard box. Zimmerman quickly went down and it appeared clear on the replay that Marshall got ahold of his jersey.
