Following the team’s 3-0 win versus Nashville SC on Saturday afternoon at Lumen Field, Seattle Sounders forward Jesús Ferreira and center back Yeimar were named to the MLS Team of the Matchday bench for Matchday 9.
Yeimar played a major role in the team's second consecutive shutout with his brickwall demeanor on defense. Throughout the 90 minutes of matchplay, the Colombian international collected the most tackles (3) and the most duels (12) of any other player in the match. He also totaled 11 clearances, four interceptions and had a passing accuracy rate of 80%.
Additionally, Ferreira's offensive prowess was key in achieving two of the three goals from the night. In the 19th minute, Ferreira's driven ball toward goal found the feet of Danny Musovski, who cruyffed the ball into the back of the net. Then in the 34th minute, Ferreira located Paul Rothrock wide open on the left side of the box who rocketed the ball past Nashville's keeper Joe Willis to extend the lead to three.
The Sounders return to action Saturday to face the Colorado Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park (6:30 p.m. PT; Watch on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV) in Commerce City, Colo.
