2014 (Seattle): Rose made 16 appearances during the 2014 campaign, including five starts. He scored three goals and added one assist. His first two goals came in a four-minute span in the second half at Chivas USA (September 3). He also scored the stoppage-time winner versus Real Salt Lake (September 12). Rose made two appearances as a substitute in the postseason. In the U.S. Open Cup, he made two starts, which included a second-half brace in the semifinal victory versus Chicago Fire (August 13).
2013 (Seattle): Rose started nine of his 18 appearances in his second professional season, logging 888 minutes. He matched his rookie total with one goal and set a new career-high with two assists—both game-winners. He had a goal and added an assist in a 3-2 win against Vancouver (June 8). He recorded the game winning assist on Obafemi Martins’ third-minute goal in a 2-0 win versus Real Salt Lake (September 13). He appeared in 22 of 42 matches across all competitions, starting 10 and accumulating 1,065 minutes.
2012 (Seattle): He was one of the most impactful rookies in MLS, making 32 appearances with 19 starts across all competitions. With four goals and five assists, Rose logged 1,156 minutes in regular season play, which ranked 12th among MLS rookies and most among Supplemental Draft picks. He scored his first MLS goal against L.A. (August 5) and recorded his first assist at FC Dallas (May 9). He made his MLS debut in a start against Philadelphia (May 5). He scored his first club goal in U.S. Open Cup versus Atlanta (May 3).
As a team captain in 2011, Rose’s accolades included First-Team All-Pac-12 honors, Second-Team NSCAA All-Far West selection, Honorable Mention Pac-12 All-Academic, and a Lowe's Senior CLASS Award semifinalist in his senior campaign at UCLA. He was named to the College Soccer News Team of the Week for September 26-October 2 after scoring the game-winning goal in overtime against Cal and converting a penalty kick against Stanford. He started in all 24 games, scored two goals, and recorded three assists on the season. As a team captain and First-Team All- Pac-10 honoree in 2010, Rose, who was also an Honorable Mention Pac-10 All-Academic, led the team in minutes (2,051) and was one of four players to start and play in all 22 games. He scored one goal and added four assists. His lone goal of the season was a penalty kick at San Diego State. Rose assisted on the game-winners in overtime against San Diego and at California.
Rose played for the Bristol City Football Club and was captain of the Under-16 and Under-18 teams. His club finished fourth in the FA Youth Premiership and lost in the fifth round of the 2008 FA Youth Cup to Manchester City after beating Everton and Leeds United. In 2007, his team also advanced to the FA Youth Cup fifth round, losing to Arsenal.
Rose was born in Melbourne, Australia to parents Graham and Barbara Rose. His older sister, Georgia, played tennis for Northwestern University. Rose lived in Chicago for six years when he was younger.
