Career Summary

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

2017: Mallace has started four of his seven appearances in 2017 with Montreal, registering 298 minutes. Montreal was 2-1-1 with Mallace in the starting lineup. Seattle Sounders FC acquired Mallace via trade from the Montreal Impact in exchange for 2019 Fourth Round MLS SuperDraft selection on August 10, 2017.

2016: The midfielder appeared in 18 regular-season matches, including 10 starts, as the Impact advanced to the Eastern Conference Championship. Mallace appeared as a substitute in three postseason matches for Montreal, including both games in the Conference Semifinals against the New York Red Bulls.

2015: Finished third on the Impact with five assists in all competitions, while setting personal records in his fourth MLS season with 26 games played, 21 starts and 1,808 minutes of play. He was named to the MLSsoccer.com Team of the Week for the first week of the season. Mallace appeared in the Knockout Round game against Toronto and both Eastern Conference Semifinals games against Columbus, starting one game. He also played five games in the CONCACAF Champions League Championship Stage, including three starts, and helped the team reach the final against Mexican giant Club América. Mallace assisted Cameron Porter’s historic game-tying goal in the quarterfinal return leg against Pachuca. Additionally, he started three Amway Canadian Championship games, registering one assist.

2014: Recorded one goal and three assists in 23 regular season games in 1,122 minutes of play, starting 12 games. The midfielder scored his first career goal in MLS on September 13 at New England. He helped the team win a second consecutive Canadian championship, playing three games, including one as a starter. Mallace played in three games in the CONCACAF Champions League group stage, recording two assists in six starts in the MLS Reserve League.

2013: Mallace started the season with the Impact, playing two regular-season games and six MLS Reserve League games before being loaned to Minnesota United FC for the NASL fall season on July 17. He recorded one goal and one assist in 12 games and 976 minutes with Minnesota, being named twice to the NASL Team of the Week.

2012: Mallace was drafted in the Second Round (20th overall) by the Montreal Impact in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft. Played four games, all starts, recording 289 minutes of play in regular season. Mallace made his MLS debut as a defender on June 30 at D.C. United, starting the last three games of the season in midfield. He scored two goals in eight games (688 minutes played), all starts, in the MLS Reserve League. Mallace also played in international matches against Olympique Lyonnais, Bologna FC and ACF Fiorentina.

AMATEUR

2011: Mallace played with Chicago Fire Premier of the USL Premier Development League, participating in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

COLLEGE EXPERIENCE

Mallace played 69 total career games with Marquette University, including 62 starts, recording 13 goals and 13 assists. He was named the 2011 Big East Conference Midfielder of the Year and a member of the All-Big East Conference First Team after registering three goals and six assists in 16 games. Also selected to the All-Big East Second Team in 2010.

YOUTH EXPERIENCE

Mallace played with Zeneca, in Scotland, before moving to the United States. He also played with the Woodbury Predators in Minnesota for two seasons.

PERSONAL

Son of Jim and Val Mallace, and his brother Craig played with the Minnesota Thunder of the USL First Division and is currently Director of Camps and Youth Development at Minnesota United FC. Mallace majored in broadcasting at Marquette. He is a dual-citizen of the United States and Scotland.
