PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

2014 (Seattle): Azira made his club debut at Montreal (March 23). His first start came six days later against Columbus on March 29. In the MLS Cup Playoffs, Azira appeared in each of the club’s four matches, including a start in the first leg of the Western Conference Championship (November 23).

2013 (Charleston): Azira scored six goals with two assists in 31 games played. He added two goals in two matches in USL PRO Playoffs. In addition, Azira appeared in two U.S. Open Cup matches.

2012 (Charleston): Azira scored his first career goal; the game-winner in 2012 USL PRO Championship against Wilmington Hammerheads. He played 14 matches in regular season play. Also, Azira appeared in one postseason match and one U.S. Open Cup match.

INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE

He was called into the Uganda National Team following the 2013 USL PRO season for 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Senegal. Azira was a member of the U-23 Uganda National Team for the Olympics and member of the U-20 Uganda National Team.

COLLEGE EXPERIENCE

Azira played his senior season for the University of Mobile. He finished with two goals and four assists while appearing in all 20 matches, earning a NAIA All-America Honorable Mention. He played for Lindsay Wilson College from 2008-09, in which he was named to the Conference All-Conference Team in 2008. Azira was part of the NAIA National Championship team in 2009.

PERSONAL

Azira is the son of Joel and Erisa Nabusgo. He served as Head Coach for Daniel Island Soccer Academy U-16 and U-18 teams in Charleston. In addition, he was an assistant coach at UMS-Wright Preparatory School, winning the Alabama state title in 2011.
