COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - Andy Rose scored a late equalizer as Sounders FC (3-1-3, 12 points) drew, 1-1, with the Colorado Rapids in the MLS Reserve League on Monday at Dick's Sporting Goods Park Field 20. The match is the last Reserve League fixture of the season for Seattle.
Colorado's Carlos Alvarez opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a left footed chip over Marcus Hahnemann from the top of the 18-yard-box, assisted by a deflection.
The score would remain 1-0 until the 80th minute when Aaron Kovar's corner kick found the head of Rose, who guided his effort carefully beyond John Berner to level the game at 1-1.
Seattle created a handful of opportunities in the first half. In the 12th minute, Tristan Bowen sent a bending cross to the far post for Kenny Cooper who was in a dangerous position, but he could not make full contact with his head to redirect and the ball continued on its path.
In the 59th minute, Hahnemann kept the game close with a big save to his left on a dangerous free kick by Kamani Hill.
New signing Onyekachi Apam saw his first live action in a Sounders FC uniform, playing the first 45 minutes before being subbed off at halftime.
Seattle ends the Reserve League season with just one loss and finished unbeaten against (1-0-3) against MLS opponents.
The Sounders FC first team returns to action this Friday with a home match against Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. PT on the Xbox Pitch at CenturyLink Field.
