It's been a long time coming, but Sounders FC midfielder Osvaldo Alonso revealed Monday that he is currently on his way to Cuba for the first time since defecting from the country in 2007.
Alonso took to Twitter to show that he, along with his wife, children and father (who he saw for the first time since defecting just this year), are all on a plane headed home. Alonso was just 22 when he walked out of a Houston-area Walmart while with the Cuban National Team.
Now 30 years old, Alonso has married, become an American citizen and had a few children of his own since making his move to the U.S.
