Jordan Morris and Osvaldo Alonso are each up for the MLS Goal of the Week after leading the way in the Seattle Sounders’ emphatic 4-2 win over the LA Galaxy on Sunday.
Morris is nominated for his goal in the 63rd minute that broke the game in the Sounders’ favor. Morris streaked past Galaxy defender Daniel Steres near midfield and converted a breakaway with the outside of his right foot to give the Sounders a 2-1 lead, and give Morris his 11th goal of the year. Morris eventually scored again just minutes later to give him 12 on the season.
Alonso, meanwhile, punctuated the Sounders’ win in the 78th minute with a right-footed rocket from well outside the box that is also up for the Goal of the Week. Long known for his ability to score from distance, Alonso now has two goals this season, the most since 2011.
