The Seattle Sounders are hosting the Houston Dynamo on Saturday in their first of two meetings this season. Here is everything you need to know:
WHEN AND WHERE: Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. PT at Lumen Field (**TICKETS**).

2025 RECORDS AND STANDINGS: Sounders: 1-2-1 (4 points, 10th West), Dynamo: 0-3-1 (1 point, 14th West)
PREVIOUS MEETING: Seattle and Houston played to a pair of scoreless draws in last season’s MLS Cup Playoffs Best-of-Three Opening Round, with the Sounders winning both contests on penalties to win the series and advance to the Western Conference Semifinals.
INTERNATIONAL DUTY: The Sounders will be without defender Nouhou (Cameroon) and midfielder Obed Vargas (Mexico U-20s) for Saturday’s match. The Dynamo, meanwhile, will miss midfielders Jack McGlynn (USMNT), Brooklyn Raines (USA U-20s) and Sebastián RodrÃguez (Mexico U-18s).
NEEDED REST: The Sounders will have a full week’s rest between matches for the first time since their season kicked off on Feb. 19. Between MLS and Concacaf Champions Cup play, Seattle competed in eight matches in just 25 days to begin the year.
ALL GREEN EVERYTHING: Seattle has lost just once to Houston in their last 16 meetings (12-1-3) in all competitions dating back to 2017.

CAPTAIN COMES HOME: For the first time since he departed following the 2023 season, former captain and Sounders legend Nicolás Lodeiro returns to Seattle. Lodeiro, who signed with the Dynamo from Orlando City as a free agent this offseason, will compete as a visitor at Lumen Field for the first time. The Uruguayan is the club’s all-time leader in assists and won a Concacaf Champions League and two MLS Cup titles during his eight-year tenure in Seattle.
WINLESS START: Houston is one of just six MLS teams to go winless through its opening four matches of the season. The Dynamo have also dropped all three of their home contests to boot.
MIDWEEK FRIENDLY: Before visiting Seattle on the weekend, the Dynamo will host the El Salvador Men’s National Team in a home friendly at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston on Wednesday evening.
DYNAMO DISRUPTION: The Dynamo underwent a major overhaul this past offseason with franchise mainstays Hector Herrera (option declined), Coco Carrasquilla (option declined), forward Sebastïan Ferreira (mutually terminated contract), goalkeeper Stevel Clark (option declined) and Micael (transfer to Palmeiras) among the exodus. In come Jack McGlynn (trade from Philadelphia Union), Júnior Urso (free agency), Jimmy Maurer (free agency) and, of course, Lodeiro.
Player to Watch: Ezequiel Ponce, F
With new prized acquisition Jack McGlynn called into the United States for international duty, even more of the onus will fall on the shoulders of Ponce, who the Dynamo acquired last summer in a club-record deal. The 27-year-old former Argentina youth international has six goals and an assist in just under 1,100 total minutes of MLS action.
