FORM GUIDE (all competitions, most recent first): Seattle: WWDWL, New England: LWWWW

PREVIOUS MEETING: Due to COVID-19 and scheduling restrictions, this will be the first matchup between the two clubs in nearly five years. The Sounders and Revolution played to a 3-3 draw at Lumen Field on Aug. 10, 2019. Harry Shipp recorded a brace and Nicolás Lodeiro added another for Seattle, while Michael Mancienne, Gustavo Bou and Carles Gil scored for the Revs.

CARDIAC KIDS: The Sounders erased a deficit for the third consecutive match last weekend in a 2-1 win over the Chicago Fire to rescue three more valuable points. That victory comes on the heels of a comeback 2-2 road draw at the Houston Dynamo and a thrilling 3-2 win over FC Dallas.

RUSNÁK STEPS UP: Sounders attacking midfielder Albert Rusnák scored twice from the penalty spot against Chicago, including burying the match-winner in the 93rd minute. The performance led to a second consecutive MLS Team of the Matchday honor.

DE LA VEGA IS BACK: Sounders Young Designated Player Pedro de la Vega came on as a 76th-minute substitute against the Fire, his first action since mid-May while battling injuries. He’ll be on a minutes-restriction as he works his way back to full fitness, but his return will be a huge boon in attack for Seattle throughout the second half of the season.

HOMESTAND FINALE: Seattle will look to make it a perfect nine points as its three-match homestand concludes this weekend. The Sounders will then head on the road for a U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal clash against the USL Championship’s Sacramento Republic FC on July 9 before visiting Austin FC in MLS league play on July 13.

PORTER RETURNS: Saturday’s matchup brings the return of former Portland Timbers manager Caleb Porter, who is in his first season at the helm in Foxborough. The Sounders last met Porter in 2021 when Seattle scored twice late in a 2-1 win over Columbus Crew SC in a rematch of MLS Cup 2020.

MIDWEEK MATCH: While the Sounders are off until this Saturday, the Revs will host Atlanta United on Wednesday before making the cross-country trip to Seattle.

TROUBLE SCORING: New England enters their match with Atlanta midweek with the worst scoring record in MLS. Even with a recent four-match winning streak, the Revolution have recorded just 18 goals, five fewer than any other team in the league.
